The War

Agghhhhh cried the rough-edged wave

Over the stone stoic that stays unchanged

Today’s the day echos back to his brothers, still, at bay

Murmurs, murmurs to cries and yells

Rage! Steady and constant they say

Rage! Nerves and aura dark gray

Rage! Rage constant and steady

Against this stone, stoic, that stays unchanged

Change will come from our rage

Steady and constant they say

Fury? Fury burns in the light

Fury? But rage is constant

Fury? but rage is a monster

Fury? Fury died out

Steady rage won out

Steady rage made change

Over the stone, stoic, that finally changed.

My Best Jest

I know that it’s all in jest

When you mock the way my stomach ingests.

And we both know it’s just a joust

When you stare in my eyes and compare Faulkner to Proust.

Prost, I stare in the eyes of my liver

It turns away with a good long quiver.

Cover, it dives for the bunker but finds solace in the bleaker bleacher.

The moonshine bully leak leakers.

I’m just trying to do my best.

Regards to the elders,

Older prayers for the weather

Whether or not they remember

I’m just trying to do my best.

Big Bird Vs. The RoadRunner, A Battle Rap

Bellies on Bellies on Bellies.

If you hit me in my belly you can hit me where I’m weak

You’re snappin out your mouth, I’ll slap you in the beak.

You think your wings are fly, but you’re frontin like a Peacock.

I learned this on the fly, I’m soaring like an Ad-Hawk.

Drip drop, pitter patter goes the terd.

I pause my iPod, The Bird is the Word!

I shout out, ‘Fuck you bird, you’ve slowed my pace’

Then the pigeon chirped twice and soiled my face.

Such a tragic tale, one sad but true, It’s how I came down with the Avian Flu.

Bless you, one flu went the cuckoo.

Feck you, blew the blue cockatoo.

I started twitter with a chirp,

When I was tweetin with my main birds,

Now they’re mockingjay-z’s words,

And perching on them noble firs,

So it’s time to catch some rodent furs,

Better yet, It’s time to drone these other birds.

Some Brussels to heal your Mussels

3am delirium ensues as I shower to make a bus to take us to the euro star. Consciousness comes and goes. I’ve been here before though, half asleep as we travel this midnight ghost to the next stop. We arrive at the euro star train station. It’s 5am, I need more coffee, or soda..or juice? Juice it is as the length of the line for coffee makes my decision. 7am and we are sitting on the eurostar departing towards Brussels. I’ve developed a strange cpmftorability for traveling objects. Back to delirium, in and out of sleep for two hours. Were here! The midnight ghost has delivered us to a new country once again. Enthusiasm lights my mind to wide awake (the ensuing coffee may have helped.) The weather of the day was iconic of this summer. The sun would come and go as rain fell sporadically. I’ll hide in my rain jacket and continue the journey towards Brussels enlightening. Beautiful, historically old buildings lit my eyes as a chocolate dipped waffle filled my stomach. Walking, looking, more walking, more seeing. Finally, time for lunch. I need a break as exhaustion has stolen my will. Walking down the alley of restaurants hounded by men assuring us that they can deliver the best bang for the buck. Mussels, known as a must eat in brussels cloud my mind. I want nothing else. Delicious, I’m revived. We continue our walk throughout the city, now on our own without the group. The architecture is beautiful and the streets are lined with interesting, albeit touristy, shops to dip into. We know we need to try Belgium beer, so we head into a bar that catches our fancy. As I’m walking in I see a strange looking drinking glass with Kwak written on it, this will be what I try. Chocolate shopping soon ensues as we are overwhelmed by the options. Eventually we decide and head to grab a quick bite before heading back to the euro star station. Waiting around filling the gaps of time with words and chatter, it’s almost time to head back to England. One day, one journey. The sleep deprived journey of a delirious enthusiast!

Until the next adventure,
This is my summer in exile

I AMsterdam

Amsterdam struck me as a much more interesting place than I was prepared for. I knew that fun was in store, surely, but what shocked me was how much I enjoyed the people, architecture, and overall structure of the city. It is truly beautiful, with parks and canals throughout. I could have easily spent an entire week wandering around. We arrived into Amsterdam on Friday morning at 8am, having taken the 6am flight from London Gatwick. We decided to go out the night before and catch the 4am train, avoiding sleep until we could check into our hostel at 2pm. Upon arrival, we joined a free walking tour of the city, finding the greatness overwhelming (thanks to a few cups of coffee). We were also lucky enough to be in Amsterdam during the Gay Pride festival. As one man put it, the canals turn pink during Gay Pride weekend. It was a great experience to be in the middle of the masses of freedom and equality. As with most cities near water, the night lights transform Amsterdam into an entirely new city, beautiful and sparkling. Although I would still choose to go back to Munich over Amsterdam, the decision is truly difficult. I enjoyed both cities tremendously and hope to be able to further explore them at some point in my life.

Until that time, these pictures will suffice as a reminder of the only Pacifico available in Europe..

Dublin

In the midst of economic turmoil, prices in Dublin have soared to levels above anything I have seen in London or Munich. We arrived onto the Island of the Leprichauns at 6am after an all night train/ferry adventure. After a quick nap on the hostel chairs (we weren’t able to check in that early) we got some coffee and breakfast in our systems and walked around the city. Dublin was dissapointing compared to the likes of London or Munich based upon size and interest. For it’s case, however, I notices a very special charm amongst the people and throughout the city. The charm was that of a home and familiarity. We stayed in the temple bar district which was a perfect jumping point to walk around. The nightlife was fun, but as I noted earlier, drinks were the most expensive I have seen anywhere so far.
I have a sneaking suspicion that it is wedding season in Europe. I lost count of the number of Bachelor and Bachelorette parties I saw roaming the streets of the temple bar district in the few days I was there, and we all know who wins in a dogfight between Christmas and wedding season..mr. Gray?

Here’s to the words I couldn’t translate from sight to speech..

Ich Liben Munchen

I flew out of London on Thursday afternoon to be greeted with rather Londonesque weather patterns. 20 minutes of rain were followed by 5 minutes of clear skies and so on and so forth. I absolutely loved the German culture and more importantly the city of Munich. The city took great pride in rebuilding original architecture after the war so much of what we saw was original design. The current Pope has a barrel of a local Munich beer delivered to the Vatican once a month. Hence, I tried God’s favorite beer. On friday, we took a free walking tour through the city culminating in fascination by all of us. On saturday, we set of to Dachau, the site of the first and longest running concentration camp and current site of a memorial. Nights were filled with wonderous cultural voyages from liter to liter. I learned a German drinking song from a sweedish man to the tune of the seven dwarves it’s off to work we go. Now I submit to the words of the pictures.

Until my next adventure,

London Eye, River Tours and Johnny Damon

I spent a full day in London hitting all of the tourist hot spots. Riding on the London eye ( the giant ferris wheel built for the millennium) was very awesome because you could get a great view of both north and south London. I also went on a river tour where I saw Johnny Damon..or at least his British counter part. We finished off the day of sight seeing with a free 5pm service in Westminster Abbey. Fascinating experience that I will try never to replicate!

Here are some photos for all you Johnny Damon lovers..
